Facade perform Façade to Launch Bury Music Festival
12th June 2026
St Edmundsbury Cathedral
Step into the wit, charm, and playful eccentricity of Façade, opening A Walton Weekend at the Bury Music Festival.
Described by William Walton as “an Entertainment,” Façade is a uniquely British 1920s delight - blending the mischievous poetry of Edith Sitwell with a sparkling, rhythmically inventive instrumental score. By turns witty, surreal, and gently satirical, it’s a piece that doesn’t take itself too seriously, inviting audiences to enjoy its humour, colour, and unmistakable sense of fun.
Performed by the Facade Ensemble (who first came together with this very work) this concert is Supported by The Walton Trust and celebrates the centenary year of Lady Susana Walton, a wonderful champion of Façade who performed it widely.
Bury Music Festival is a joint project between Bury Bach Choir, St Edmundsbury Cathedral and The Facade Ensemble. This reimagining of a highly regarded and established classical music festival comes from Facade's Artistic Director, Benedict Collins Rice, who is also the Festival Director of the Bury Music Festival.
